This elegant vacation home was designed for a distinguished, well-traveled couple in beautiful Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Contemporary living need not be cold nor uncomfortable. In order to create a warm and relaxing atmosphere, a palette of crimson red, dark brown and shades of beige were used. These warm colors are prevalent in the kitchen cabinets made of red glass, the dark brown crystal headboard in the master bedroom and the various fabrics used. Only outdoor textiles were used in order to reduce the likelihood of fading and damage due to the tropical climate.
Repetition of linear form is incorporated into the overall design – the horizontal quartz strips in the kitchen backsplash, the linear shapes of the kitchen and dining chandeliers, the straight leather straps of the custom glass cocktail table. This consistency of design, form and color creates a harmonious feel throughout. The result is an elegant vacation getaway that is relevant yet timeless.
